Around Here Today: a small town's own community board
Around Here Today is a community board for one small town: a shared calendar of events, markets and council meetings, a bulletin board for lost and found, garage sales and free items, and directories of local businesses and makers. Only residents with a verified address in town can post, anyone can read, and volunteer moderators run it with every decision logged. Fox & Santiago built it for Around Here Today, the community board for Genesee, Idaho.
The demo runs on one sample company that resets itself every 30 minutes. Nothing is ever sent.

The problem it fixes
In a small town, what is happening tends to be spread across flyers on the post office wall, church bulletins and social media groups, and nobody sees all of it. Events get missed, lost pets stay lost, and a new business has no easy way to be found by the people down the street.
What changed
The town gets one board of its own: a calendar, a bulletin board and a directory, posted to by verified residents and read by anyone.
How it works
The town's front page
This week's events, local businesses and the latest board posts on one page residents check, built around the town's own look rather than a template.

One calendar for everything
Markets, council meetings, school games and fundraisers on one calendar, with weekly and monthly events repeating on their own. Residents can subscribe from their phone's calendar app, and civic meetings and markets have their own feeds.

A bulletin board that stays current
Lost and found, garage sales, free items, questions and offers. Each post expires on its own, so the board never fills up with last month's yard sale.

Every business and maker in town
Owners claim their listing and keep their hours and details up to date. Active businesses take turns on the home page billboard, so every one gets the same airtime, and makers get a page of their own.

Only real neighbors post
Every account is tied to an address in town and approved by a neighbor at that address or a moderator. Every approval, removal and suspension needs a reason and lands in the audit log.

Who it is for
- Small towns and rural communities
- Civic groups, granges, churches and libraries
- Local businesses and makers who want to be found by their neighbors

Questions people ask
What problem does Around Here Today solve?
In a small town, what is happening is scattered across flyers, church bulletins and a dozen social media groups, and people miss things. Around Here Today gives the town one place to check, run by its own residents.
How does it keep out spam and strangers?
Anyone can read, but only residents with a verified address in town can post. A neighbor at the same address or a moderator approves each new account, and moderators can remove posts or suspend accounts, always with a logged reason.
Is the demo the real software?
Yes. The demo runs the same board on Cedar Flats, a fictional town with fictional residents, businesses and events. You are signed in as the sample moderator, nothing is emailed, and the town resets itself every 30 minutes.
